Though there are more women making significant contributions the field of science today than ever before, there is still a huge gap between women in science compared to men. Based on her ongoing research and advocacy for more women to be involved in science, Dr. Lakshmi Ramachandran will share why she believes this gap needs to bridged right now, the key issues that are affecting a woman’s career in science, and how we can all ensure that our girls and women are not left behind in science education and careers.

Dr. Lakshmi Ramachandran, PhD • Science Consultant

Dr. Lakshmi Ramachandran, PhD in Cell & Molecular Biology (SUNY Buffalo, USA), is an active proponent of STEM and female participation in science. Her professional background in science broadly spans science communications at Mechanobiology Inst, NUS, and early drug discovery. At present Lakshmi is affiliated with the STEM Advocacy Institute, Boston, USA, as a senior program specialist. She is also co-organizing the Gender Summit Asia Pacific (GS-AP), 2019, in Singapore.
